Cancer Research

Cancer is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in Suriname. The evaluation of the different epidemiological aspects of cancer is an ongoing focal point of our Research Center. Another focus is the investigation of various aspects of Surinamese medicinal plants, including their potential usefulness as new therapeutics, nutraceuticals, and ‘natural’ food additives. This is done in close collaboration with the departments of Pharmacology and Physiology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Anton de Kom University of Suriname.
